Holly Hunter is an American actor and producer who is well-known by her outstanding performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her acting career began on Broadway and she worked on a wide range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway projects. Awed by acting since elementary school days, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf on one ear. However, she was determined not to allow that hinder her from becoming an actress. The college she attended was drama, and then moved away from Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her dreams. Hunter first appeared on Broadway when she had a chance meeting and Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After moving into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land the film role she wanted to appear in. An supporting role was found for her in Swing Shift. She has appeared in countless movies, television shows and feature films throughout the course of her career. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor and won Women in Film Lucy Award.
